Torres del Paine NP, Chile
Dickson to Los Perros. About 12 km.
Our good weather luck continues! Quite a bit of cloud when we first got up, but by day's end there was much more blue up there.
Today's route was from Camp Dickson to Camp Los Perros. It was about 12 km and the map showed it to be generally uphill. Carole had taken notes during Jose's briefing. The scenery was supposed to be stunning today. Hmm.... Most of the day except maybe the last 2 km was pretty much in the trees. But - the uphill was pretty gentle so overall it was a relatively short and easy hike. We did have a few views along the way.
About 1 km from the end we came to Laguna Los Perros and the Los Perras glacier coming right down to the water's edge. It was a beautiful viewpoint and we spent lots of time there. We even saw several chunks of the glacier coming off. A bit further on was a trail down to the lakeshore. Another lovely viewpoint and we saw some bergie-bits floating about. The first picture below is compliments of Ray and Lu.
Such a nice trek so far! Tomorrow is our most challenging day. Hopefully the good weather holds!
