Iguazu Falls, Argentina
Said to be the world’s largest waterfalls, they certainly didn’t disappoint! For most of its course the Iguazu River flows through Brazil but at the falls the river forms the border between Brazil and Argentina and most of the falls are on the Argentine side. It is possible to tour the falls from either side but we chose to stay on the Argentine side. We sure picked the perfect day to visit. Lots of sunshine and blue skies. The temperature was probably about 30C.
We left town about 8:20. It was a bit of a bus ride to get to the park and then about a 40 minute walk from the park entrance to the meeting place for the boat ride. Then another bus ride through the rain forest to the actual boat launch. Yes, it was a bit of a process to get there and back but the boat ride was fabulous. We had great views of many of the falls and the driver made sure we had a thorough drenching 4 or 5 times. With the sun and hot temperature, though, no one minded getting wet.
We got back to our start point about 12:30 and promptly headed off for the shuttle train.
We ate our packed lunches on the train and joined hundreds of our new closest friends on the journey to the “Devil’s Throat” set of waterfalls. I think these were the biggest yet - just spectacular!
Then back on the train to the trailheads for the upper and lower hiking trails. Both were great, and got us close to most of the falls we had seen on this morning’s boat ride.

We also saw some wildlife during the day. Monkeys, coates, butterflies, birds and spiders. Very nice...
By the time we were done, it was almost six. A full day, and we couldn’t have asked for a better one!
